Who needs to demonstrate the new knowledge?
General naturalisation includes the new requirements. Other routes have their own cross-references and exceptions; it is incorrect to say that every nationality application requires the same test.

Start with the article supporting your application. “Knowledge is required” and “a specific examination is required” are different questions. The checked sources do not establish a single procedure for every situation.

Article 6(1) governs general naturalisation. The law also refers grandchildren of Portuguese citizens (Article 1(3)) and certain naturalisation routes to knowledge requirements. One rule cannot be applied to every route.
