Short answer

For permanent residence, AIMA publishes several evidence routes, including PLA certification. For nationality, the regulation lists evidence routes whose interaction with the reform must be confirmed.

Confirmed by official source

AIMA accepts a basic-Portuguese certificate obtained through a test at a recognised CAPLE centre.

Needs review

The Regulation lists school certificates, a language test, a Portuguese-as-a-foreign-language certificate, A2/PLA training and specified qualifications as ways to prove Portuguese knowledge.

A course and a certificate are different things

Before enrolling, check the certified level, issuer and recognition basis. An attendance statement or “A2” advertising does not automatically show that the document meets published conditions. Compare documentation with the official list.

Do not generalise acceptance

A certificate accepted for basic Portuguese in permanent residence does not necessarily resolve every nationality knowledge requirement. Keep language evidence, cultural/civic knowledge and other application documents separate.

Confirmed by official source

Nationality and permanent residence are distinct procedures under different authorities and legal bases; evidence accepted for one should not automatically be assumed to satisfy every requirement of the other.

Deciding with current information

Keep the exact course or exam name and a sample of the certificate to be issued. Check the source for your procedure and clarify doubts with the competent authority before spending money. We do not promise universal equivalence between courses and exams.
